On the Death of Prime Minister Abe: Moon and Sasakawa in the Pacific (4)

Two weeks have passed since the murder of Prime Minister Abe. Criticism of the Unification Church has become apparent, just as the suspect, Yamagami, had expected. I was vaguely aware of the existence of the Unification Church in the Pacific.

In the 1990s, when I visited Pacific island countries, I was often asked.

"Are you Moon?"

"No, I am from Sasakawa."

A Japanese woman in her twenties, just like me, had been sent to Pacific Island countries by the Unification Church and had made connections with local influential people. I checked the Unification Church's web site this time and found that they have been holding international conferences, etc., with a local secretary general since early 2000. It covers 159 countries around the world, including 11 Pacific island countries and regions.

It is certain that the Unification Church has penetrated widely in the Pacific. I would also like to mention that a Japanese man who seems to be related to the Unification Church has been persistently approaching me. His name on Linkedin is "3rd Blessing Independent Institute. This name is exactly like the Unification Church itself. Of course, he does not call himself the Unification Church at all. The fact that his affiliation is unknown made me suspicious. That is why I have kept my distance from him. I was not interested in the content of the proposal, which was nothing more than a bunch of dazzling letters.

The words "island unification" proposed by Mr. Nakajima were found in a document obtained by Mr. Arita, a former member of the House of Councillors who has been chasing the Unification Church issue. Domestic expenses of 900,000 yen per month are recorded for "island unification". Although extremely small compared to other amounts, the "Islands Unification" is clearly one of the Unification Church's projects.

When I was twittering about the Unification Church and the Pacific Islands and Oceans issue, a follower told me that Moon Myung Moon had published a book titled "Pacific Rim Providence". Pacific islands and oceans were clearly a target of the Unification Church.

In doing research in the wake of Prime Minister Abe's death, I began to see how Sasakawa did not simply support Moon Myung Moon, but was the first to recognize its advantages and bring it to Japan. I also learned that Kodama and his yakuza associates had established the Shōkyō Rengō, which engaged in illegal activities such as the importation of weapons under the guise of anti-communism. They have maintained a terrorist group (some described it as a Shinto yakuza) that has been around since before the war.

The Pacific Moon and Sasakawa may be one and the same.
