新渡戸が"Japan as a Colonizer"を講演したのは1911年11月、米国クラーク大学であった。そこで「日本及び日本人とアメリカの関係」が開催されたのだ。この記録が同大学の
The Journal of Race Development にある。赤にしたのがその記録。
The Journal of Race Developmentは1910年から1919年に発行された雑誌で、その後The Journal of International Relationsに統合され、1922年からはForeign Affairsに統合されている。この雑誌に書かれた日本に関する記事を拾っていくだけでも、興味深い日米関係の動きが見えて来そうだが、とりあえず日本に関連しそうな目次だけ拾っておきたい。
なお、1号にある紹介文を読むと、世界の人種研究とは植民政策、国際政治の研究のようだ。この雑誌に関する研究がありそうな気もする。
